Hart Well Drilling was born in 1969 when Paul Hart started drilling wells in Northern Michigan with nothing more than hard work, good equipment, and a commitment to doing the job right. In a region where families depend entirely on their wells for water, that commitment wasn't just a business value — it was a responsibility. The Hart name became synonymous with reliability in Otsego County and surrounding communities because every job got treated like a job on a family member's property.

1969

Paul Hart Founds the Company

Hart Well Drilling is established in Gaylord, MI. Paul Hart — "Grandpa Hart" to everyone who knew him — begins drilling residential and agricultural wells across Otsego County, building a reputation on reliable work and straight talk with customers. The company grows steadily through the 1970s as Northern Michigan's population expands and demand for new wells increases.

1973

Russ Hart Takes the Reins

Grandpa Hart's son Russ Hart takes over the business, continuing the family tradition of hands-on service across the Gaylord area. Russ grows up in the business alongside his father and carries forward the same standards and community relationships that defined Hart Well Drilling in its founding years.

2005

Ron Hart Expands the Operation

Following Russ's passing, his son Ron Hart steps into leadership and expands Hart Well Drilling significantly — broadening the service offerings to include pump service and repair, well maintenance, water treatment, and emergency response. Under Ron's leadership, Hart Well Drilling becomes the region's most comprehensive well services company.

2011

Logan Hart Joins — A Fully Family-Operated Crew

Ron's son Logan Hart joins the business and works hand in hand with his father on every job. But Hart Well Drilling isn't just family owned — it's solely family operated. Rounding out the crew are three of Ron's nephews: Landen Skop, Matt Koronka, and Carsen McKinley — loyal, dedicated employees who bring the same Hart family work ethic to every call. Every person on a Hart Well Drilling job is family. That's not a slogan. That's just how it's always been done.
